APR players, Alain Kwitonda, Djabel Manishimwe and Jean Bosco Ruboneka who had been called to the national football team “Amavubi” will not play the return legs of the 2022 World/Africa qualifier against Mali and Kenya due to the medical issues. Rwanda will host Mali at Kigali stadium on November 11 before facing Kenya on November 14 2021. According to the statement from the national team, three APR players will not attend the camp due to illness, however the statement didn’t reveal the type of illness nor did the club say what the players are suffering from. Amavubi has lost three games against Mali and twice against Uganda and held Kenya to a draw. The national team are in a residential camp at Sainte Famille Hotel and train at the Kigali Stadium. Mali is top of Group E with 10 points, Uganda is second with eight points, Kenya is third with two points while Rwanda is last with only one point. Only the group’s top team is guaranteed a spot into the final phase of the qualifiers. The final round will see ten teams drawn into five home-and-away ties, with the five winners automatically securing tickets to represent Africa at the Fifa World Cup 2022.
