The Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) has decided that the 2020/2021 national volleyball league will finally take place next month, after a long time of postponement due to Covid-19 inconveniences. It will run for less than a month, from December 10 to 31 in a round-robin format. The date was agreed upon in an FRVB meeting which was held on Monday, November 1 at their headquarters at Amahoro Stadium. The men’s league will comprise eight teams: defending champions APR, Kirehe VC, Gisagara VC, Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) VC, Kigali VC, IPRC-South VC, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and IPRC-Ngoma. In the women’s category, five clubs will participate: APR VC, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) VC, UTB, IPRC South and Kigali VC. Philbert Mucyo, the FRVB Secretary General told Times Sport that local clubs also have an opportunity to participate in the Taxpayers’ tournament, a competition that is supported by RRA that will take place this month from November 26 to 28. Last year, APR won the league title after defeating UTB 3-2. While in the women’s category, UTB retained the women’s league title after beating APR 3-2 sets.
