Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and The Hoops women basketball clubs will represent Rwanda in the upcoming FIBA Africa Zone Five Club Championship slated for November 16-21 in Tanzania. REG goes to the tournament courtesy of the fact that they are the league champions in Rwanda. As for The Hoops, their participation is due to the fact that they were supposed to represent Rwanda in the same competition last year, but due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it did not take place. That is why they will be allowed to take part in the 2021 tournament. In an interview with Times Sport, Richard Nyirishema, the vice president of FERWABA confirmed that both teams will represent the country in the FIBA Africa Zone Five club championship. Esperance Mukaneza, the head coach of the REG women’s basketball team, said they are soon going to embark on preparations for the Zone Five competition so that they can perform well. We want to continue with the ambition to perform well, and it is possible in this zone 5 tournament. What I continue to ask my players is to keep working hard, she said.
