Sunday REG 50-44 The Hoops Rwanda Energy Group (REG) womens basketball team clinched the 2020/2021 league title on Sunday evening at Kigali Arena, just a day after their male counterparts were declared champions in the mens category. REG won the championship 2-1 in the best-of-three playoff finals following a 50-44 Game 3 victory. The Hoops Rwanda, who took Game 2 on Saturday, were the 2019/20 champions. Rose Paul Macuei added 18 points. Macuei was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season. By lifting the league title, REG womens team booked a ticket to represent the country at the FIBA Africa Zone 5 Club Championship. “I am very happy for my girls and the team. This is a big milestone,” said a visibly excited REG head coach Esperance Mukaneza.
