Today Men Playoffs semi-finals Patriots Vs APR 3pm REG Vs IPRC-Kigali 7pm Women The Hoops Vs APR 1pm IPRC-Huye Vs REG 5pm The semifinal playoffs of the local basketball league are getting underway today with defending champions Patriots locking horns with APR, while REG take on IPRC Kigali at Kigali Arena. The Patriots-APR game is scheduled for 1pm, and REG vs IPRC Kigali is at 5pm. The 4 teams at this stage are playing in a format of “best of three series,” where the teams play two games against each other. If one team wins both ties, it advances to the finals. However, if the teams win a match each, then they have to play a third game which is the ultimate decider of who will go to the finals. Bernard Ben Oluoch, the head coach of Patriots said his team wants to start well by winning the first game “We are going into game 1 aiming for a positive beginning. Our players need to have a winning mentality and mean serious business like we always did throughout the last season.” Women’s semis In the women’s semi-finals, the Hoops will face APR, while IPRC-Huye will be up against Ubumwe. Kigali Arena is the sole venue to host all semifinals which will start today. The playoffs winner will represent the country at the BAL 2022 in men category while the women winner will represent the country in FIBA Africa Zone V Club Championships. Meanwhile, the Rwanda basketball federation (Ferwaba) gave green light to basketball fans to attend matches of the semifinal playoff stage. In an exclusive interview with Times Sport earlier, Landry Jabo, the Executive Director at Ferwaba said fans will need to present proof of vaccination (at least one dose) and a negative Covid-19 test before accessing the arena. All other preventive measures like wearing of facemasks and social distancing among others will be strictly followed. Fans allowed to watch the games should not exceed 50% at the Kigali Arena. Tickets will go for Rwf10, 000, Rwf7, 000 and Rwf5000.
