LAST WEEK, on October 2, five Rwandan models from local modeling agency, WeBest Models were in Paris for Paris Fashion Week SS22, where they presented the latest collections by renowned international fashion designers. Christine Munezero, Morella Isheja, Ines Pamela, Ornella Umutoni and Jennifer Girukwishaka are the models that took a lead at the fashion show’s runway that was held from September 27, to October 5. They also showcased designs at the Milan Fashion Week SS22. According to Franco Kabano, co-owner of WeBest Model agency, the fashion show in Paris was a big step because it is unusual for a local model to be given the opportunity to showcase a big brand like Maison Valentino at a major fashion show. “It means victory, because we are slowly achieving milestones, although it is still a journey. That means we have to work harder so that we don’t get caught up and lag behind,” he told The New Times. WeBest Models continued to make history when at the Valentino concert, three of the models were featured at the same concert, which is unusual for model from the same agency to work for the same brand. Brands they showcased Christine Munezero, appeared in Maison Valentino, Shangxia, Giambattista Valli, Lacoste and AZ Factory at the Paris Fashion Week, while Isheja Morella appeared in two concerts named Courreges and Giambattista. Ines Pamela, who attended Paris Fashion Week for the first time, on the hand, showcased Maison Valentino, Hermes and MIU MIU designs. Umutoni Ornella presented Loewe, Hermes and MIU MIU designs. Local model, Jennifer Girukwishaka was also given the opportunity to close the concert by leading everyone else at the Giambattista Valli Fashion Show, according to Kabano. Girukwishaka was featured in Loewe, Maison Valentino, Hermes, Shangxia, Giambattista Valli, Miu Miu and AZ Factory. Paris Fashion Week is a series of designer presentations held semi-annually in Paris, France with spring, summer , autumn and winter events held each year. It is held at venues throughout the city of Paris.
