The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced dates for the upcoming FIBA U18 AfroBasket tournament where Rwanda will be represented in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. According to FIBA, the tournament is scheduled to take place from September 1 to 14 in Johannesburg, South Africa. ALSO READ: Rwanda U18 finish second after Zone V final loss to Uganda The FIBA U18 AfroBasket, previously known as the FIBA U18 African Championship, is a biennial international youth basketball competition consisting of under-18 national teams organised by FIBA Africa. This year, it is expected to attract a dozen U18 national teams in each of the two categories. Rwanda qualified for the showpiece after finishing second in the Zone V regional tournament which took place in Uganda in June. The top two teams in each of the categories will secure the two tickets on offer for African countries for the 2025 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup. Rwanda’s U18 teams started preparations for the U18 FIBA Afrobasket last month. Times Sport understands that the technical bench of the national teams expects to add new faces to the roster that finished in second place at the Zone V tournament in June.
