As Covid-19 restrictions are eased and concerts are given a green light, KCN Ltd is set for their inaugural event dubbed “Rwanda Influencer Awards”. The event targeting various categories of influencers, is scheduled to take place in December and will be annual. The categories include social media influencers, journalist influencers, lifestyle influencers, and content producer influencers. Christian Kalisa, Creative Producer at KCN LTD, tells Weekender that this event is about promoting influencers and commending their work in society. “These influencers are people who play a key role in understanding what’s going on around the world, they are used to publicising various activities, especially on social media. We want to thank and support them,” he says. Kalisa adds that they are looking forward to inspiring the youth to use their creativity and social media platforms in a way that can benefit them. On what inspired this initiative, he says, “During this pandemic, we have seen so many talented emerging influencers and well-known content creators using their platforms to inspire and teach their communities. We are delighted to highlight their achievements this year,” he says. Kalisa further explains that nominees in the content creator category are required to have at least 50,000 followers on Instagram and Twitter. They should also have worked with a brand over the last two years and engaged their audience, among other requirements. For each category there will be a maximum of 10 nominees.
