MUZIKA NYARWANDA IPANDE LTD (MNI) in partnership with TV10 is set to reveal the winner of the ‘Muzika Nyarwanda Ipande’ competition on Saturday, September 25. The event will be broadcast live on TV10 at 7:30pm. MNI Ltd is a private limited company that generates revenue for Rwandan artistes and promotes their music, through the music chart project, quarterly awards and royalties collected from voting. So over 25 million has been allocated to musicians. The MNI awards seeks to promote and offer equitable opportunities for musicians of all genres, as well as to allow music fans to participate in the progress of music industry by voting. Voting, which ends on Saturday, for favourite songs is done via the MNI website (www.mni.rw) and the most voted song will be awarded with Rwf1 million. Jean-Christian Ndikubwayo, Chief Executive Officer of MNI told The New Times that their vision is to always stand out in the promotion of the creative, artistic and entertainment industries in Rwanda. MNI engages people to enjoy their local artistic work. “We have a three-month music chart in which fans vote for their favourite song at a cost of 100RWF, with 60 per cent of the money going to the artistes based on their votes as a direct source of revenue from their fans. The song with the most votes after two weeks is awarded with a prize of 250,000 RWF, whereas the 1 million prize is given to a song with most votes in a quarter as a Music award,” says Ndikubwayo. Muzika Nyarwanda Ipande started in October 2019. After this fourth Quarter, MNI will start a new quarter with new artistes and their songs on the MNI chart.
