Mango 4G, a leading 4G internet providing company in Rwanda, has availed Akeza smart feature phone which consumers can get free of charge after paying only Rwf36,000 for one-year 4G internet. According to Eric Niyomugabo, the Vice President of MANGO 4G, the company has manufactured and introduced a highly performing smartphone in the form of a feature phone to make sure that Rwandan people no longer see high prices as a hindrance to living in the digital world. He said the move is in line with the government of Rwanda’s effort to enhance access to technology and internet penetration. The Feature phone , unveiled on Friday September 17, has smartphone-like capabilities and features including social media such as WatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google Maps, Wireless FM Radio and Bluetooth. They also include Google Assistant Two Basic Camera, Torch/Flashlight, Dual Sim 2G/3G/4G, 1900mAh battery among others. The 100 percent 4G LTE phone uses Kaios System and is available in Mango 4G centres and shops across the country. “ With the launch of the first feature phone with 4G long-term evolution (LTE) ready capabilities, Akeza 4G smartphone aims to bring millions of feature phone users of the country to its network which is driven by the speed of data and is the only 4G network in the country,” Niyomugabo said. He said that the new product will help to enhance the use of the internet in both urban and rural areas. “People were thinking that only those with big smartphones use 4G internet. We have availed extraordinary products to help even those in remote areas in rural areas and those in cities who use feature phones,” he said. He noted that 98 percent of the country is covered by the internet saying that those given Akeza 4G smartphones are assured. “The government of Rwanda has embarked on the campaign to ensure all people have smartphones and therefore Akeza 4G smart features phones are timely to ensure affordability,” he said. Dieudonne Nsengiyumva, the Assistant Marketing Manager at Mango 4G said that Akeza 4G smartphones are available in 34 Mango 4G centres across the country. He said that 17 shops are located in Kigali and 17 shops in other provinces. In Kigali city, he said, the phones are available in three centres located along Nyabugogo- Nyamirambo areas, four shops in the Central Business District, 8 shops in Gasabo and Kicukiro districts among many other areas in the city and suburbs. The affordable smart feature phones are also available in shops along the route from Muhanga, Huye, Nyamagabe to Ngororero, the road Musanze-Rubavu-Rusizi adding a shop will soon be launched in Karongi district. They are also available in centres along the road Rwamagana-Nyagatare-Rusomo-Kirehe and others centes across the country. “We have different ways to supply our products to citizens wherever they are. Those shops across the country also have addresses which people can contact and call for delivery. We also do online delivery when clients order. They can also use the website and ‘My Mango App” to order for the phones. The address is also available on Google map,” he said adding that the application, Google Map and the website (www.mango4g.rw) guide clients where the shops are He assured that any demand of the phone will be satisfied adding that business people can also buy the phones for retailing across the country. “We have enough stock,” he noted.
