Minaloc warns Rulindo to respect human life

NORTHERN PROVINCE RULINDO- The Minister of Local Government (Minaloc) Protais Musoni, on Monday called upon Rulindo District residents to respect human life because nobody was created to be killed. He said this during ceremony to lay to rest remains of 59 Genocide victims at Rusiga Sector Genocide Memorial site, an event that coincided with the conclusion of the national mourning week. The Minister reminded residents of the importance of the Genocide commemoration. “Genocide commemoration enables us honour those who perished during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, those who stopped it and to assist Genocide survivors,” said Musoni, who called for continued efforts to stem out the Genocide ideology and foster unity and reconciliation in the district. In his remarks, the Governor of Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe said that a lot has been achieved to stem Genocide ideology in the Province. “The bad days that culminated into the 1994 Genocide should serve as a big lesson to all Rwandans to avoid its re-occurrence,” said Bosenibamwe. He castigated perpetrators and revisionists of the Genocide who are mainly based in foreign countries, saying their days are numbered. “The perpetrators and deniers of 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi who are always given airtime in foreign media will soon be apprehended and brought before justice because the whole world has known the truth surrounding the tragedy that befell our country,” said Bosenibamwe. Speaking on behalf of the survivors in the area, parliamentarian Evariste Kalisa called upon Genocide survivors to be courageous because life has to continue. He said the Tutsi who perished during the Genocide are over one million. “There are many Genocide victims being discovered on a daily basis countrywide and they all need to be accorded a decent burial,” said Kalisa. A Genocide survivor Angele Mukamagera of Shyorongi Sector gave a testimony of how she escaped during the Genocide from among the dead, with gruesome head injuries and hid in a sorghum plantation until she was rescued by the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA).
