Generally, no matter how prepared you are, running a business is hard but this doesn’t mean that succeeding is unfeasible. Apparently, there are certain tools and strategies an entrepreneur can exploit in order to maneuverer barriers in business. Entrepreneur Christian Didier Izere, the proprietor of Cadeaux Company-a construction firm, says in order to increase the growth of a business, certain approaches have to be in place. The best thing a small business can have is the address; this can be a website but most importantly, have a physical address (work office). “Most people don’t believe in small businesses because they don’t usually have work offices and hence don’t know where they can find or reach them. So when they don’t have a known address, their service appears to be in air and it’s hard to trust that,” he says. Additionally, Izere considers that it’s great to have a team to share responsibilities. He says, when the responsibilities are not shared, production can be affected. But with the right team in place, work will be done efficiently which will help the business to grow. Branding-This is very crucial according to the entrepreneur. “Small businesses need to have brands. That’s why they have to invest in marketing! For example, getting a logo will identify you from other businesses. And when it comes to marketing, building a strong brand is the best approach especially when focusing on a targeted market.” Moreover aspects such as time management, communication, proper management of cash flow, among others are just as relevant. Tech tools With entrepreneurship getting larger by the day, business people ought to do all it takes to stay on top. Keeping up to speed with all the latest tools especially those in line with technology, is crucial for the growth of any small business. Yvonne Nyinawumuntu, the founder of GoCook -an online platform that connects people to chefs or professional cooks lists some of these tools as explained below; Canva: This is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. Small businesses need this tool to create marketing materials such as social media posts, logos reports and presentations. GitHub: This is for people in software development, Nyinawumuntu says. It is a provider of internet hosting for software development and version control using Git. “This tool allows entrepreneurs to manage their products and collaborate effectively with their teams.” Excel/FreshBooks or Quick books: These are for recording transactions and creating accounting statements such as balance sheet, cash flow, among others. Mockplus: This tool helps businesses to create prototypes and collaborate with teams on these prototypes. A prototype is an early sample or model of a product built to test a concept or process. There is another tool called AWS that start-ups should look out for. It is good for early stage entrepreneurs. As the lead cloud computing platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides servers, storage, networking, remote computing, email, mobile development, and security. “Most of these have free accounts and premium features. Small businesses that can’t afford premium features can create free accounts and use them until they free feel to upgrade,” Nyinawumuntu adds.
