Local deejays Arnold Shema, aka DJ Toxxyk, and DJ Marnaud have been announced as the official DJs of the much-anticipated FIBA Afrobasket showpiece set to kick off on Tuesday, August 24, at the Kigali Arena. They will be mixing the best music vibes alongside upcoming DJ Lou, who is growing his career under the duo’s mentorship. Marnaud and Toxxyk are familiar figures who have graced big events and their combination on the decks has been hailed by many of those who attended various NBA Africa and FERWABA-organised basketball event for the past three years. They may have missed out on running the show during the Basketball Africa League (BAL) back in May but Marnaud said that their time has come to show what Rwandan DJs are capable of. “I am happy for the trust and potential the organisers see in us. It’s really a big opportunity for me and my colleagues to grace the stage with the best music from our decks. We can’t wait to entertain basketball fans at the arena. Meanwhile, Bruce Melodie is also expected to perform at the two-week continental event alongside a yet-to-be-announced list of other artists. Hosts Rwanda, who play their opening game against DR Congo on Tuesday, August 24, will be making their sixth appearance in the Afrobasket as they bid to surprise African giants and lift the trophy for the first time before their home fans.
