Rwanda is expected to participate at the inaugural Great Lakes Friendship Karate Tournament in DR Congo next month after receiving an invitation to the competition on Thursday, August 19. The tournament is scheduled for September 23-26 in Goma, at Cap Kivu Hotel. At least nine countries have been invited including Angola, Burundi, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. The delegation was received by President of the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee, Theogene Uwayo, who also doubles as the president of the local karate governing body – Ferwaka. The two federations also discussed potential areas of partnership ahead of the competition.
