At least 100 vintage cars will attend and showcase at the upcoming 2024 Kigali Auto Show scheduled for August 3, at Tuuza Inn Nyamata in Bugesera District, organizers have confirmed. “Some 40 cars have so far registered but expect more as registration is ongoing. We hope to receive at least 100 vintage cars at the event,” VJ Mupenzi, one of the organizers of the event confirmed to The New Times on Tuesday. “We have received requests from a number of foreigners who want to register their cars for the event,” he added. Organized by M&K events company, the second edition of Kigali Auto Show will shift to Tuuza Inn, Nyamata, from Gahanga Cricket Stadium which previously hosted the inaugural edition that was hosted by Uganda’s socialite Sheila Gashumba. The show, VJ Mupenzi said, returns with various buzzing entertainment activities and among them are drifting competitions to spice up the event as well as kids’ games aimed at catering for the young ones who will come with their parents/guardians for the show. “The drifting competitions are more serious this year with notable prizes,” he said. Admissions for the drifting competition is Rwf 100,000 and 10 cars will be available for drifters. The winner will take home Rwf500,000 and Rwf200, 000 for the first runner-up. “We call more people to participate in this thrilling game,” Mupenzi said. Kigali Auto Show was inaugurated in 2023 at Gahanga Cricket Stadium where over 30 vintage cars were displayed. The event aims to give car-lovers in Rwanda a platform to meet again and celebrate the existence of their luxury and vintage cars.
