KIVUMBI KING, a fast-rising artiste, is set to release his first album, dubbed ‘DID’ on July 30. The album will feature different big names from East Africa such as Nutty Neithan, from Uganda, and other Rwandan top artistes like Mike Kayihura, Ish Kevin and Amalon. Kivumbi told The New Times that this album will not represent him as a solo artiste, but new players in the music sector. “‘DID’ will not represent Kivumbi King. It is an album that will represent the whole industry because it has amazing features and these are new sounds and voices so it represents what the new music is about” said Kivumbi. The ‘Fever’ hit maker further explained what the album title ‘DID means. “Did mean Dissociative identity disorder, anyone who is interested to know more about it can google it. It was called (MPD) before which meant multiple personality disorder,” he told The New Times. Besides being an artiste, Kivumbi is also a top player in the poetry industry. His poems like ‘Cyacyana’ have won attention and admiration on an international level. “I grew up doing both (poetry and music) but when I was a kid I used to write bars (hip-hop slang for a rappers lyrics), listening to Rider man and Tuff Gang which slowly helped me until I found my way into this career” he said. The ‘DID’ album follows some of the EPs that Kivumbi has dropped in the past including ‘Sickness’, which has tracks like ‘Fever’ and ‘Vanessa’ that made it to the top trending songs of 2019. Some of his best hits are ‘Maso yinyana’, ‘Nya Nya’ and ‘Away’.
