APPLICATIONS for the second season of Supra-Talent are open for contestants who will compete in two categories, which are cover singing competition and kizomba dancing competition. Formerly known as Supra-Voice the deadline for entries is set for July, 25. According to Alphonse Nsengiyumva, one of the organisers of the competition, the new local talent show has changed their name due to different demands including people with different talents such as dancing and others requesting to join the competition. “This has completely changed the name of the competition and turn it into Supra-talent instead of supra voice like it used to be in the first season and we are planning to include other talents in future,” he said Asked the reason behind picking the Kizomba dance type over another different dancing style do exist, Nsengiyumva explained that initially, they were looking for a group of two people or more (for the dancing competition) and it seems like most people love Kizomba dance though few know how to dance it. Kizomba also combines some different dancing styles and although people love it, they do not get the chance to see or dance to practice it as much as the other styles. Nsengiyumva added that they expect that through this competition Kizomba dance will be popularised and keep people occupied in their home during this pandemic since the competition will be aired on TV1. He also revealed that there is no specific qualification for competitors, anyone who is willing to join is allowed to compete in their selected categories. The competition is aimed at promoting and discovering new singing talent and dancing talents. The prize for the winners in both categories will be Rwf1 million and their talents will be managed for two years or more. The top five will scoop other unannounced prizes which they will get in partnership with diverse partners of the competition. To participate, one is required to send a one minute good quality video singing a cover song or dancing kizomba on WhatsApp on +250783014482.
