The national football federation is working out a plan for a possible return of the second division league. There were speculations that the second division league season would be made null and void but Jules Karangwa, the football governing body’s deputy spokesperson, told Times Sport that there is no point in suspending the season. He instead revealed that they are looking into aspects through which the league should resume in line with preventive guidelines provided by the Ministry of Sports. “The second division league has to take place to get teams that must be promoted to the top flight league. We are working on the format and guidelines under which teams will be playing the league and we will communicate the dates soon,” Karangwa said in an interview. The second division will see two teams promoted to the top flight league and book places for two bottom clubs which will be relegated to the second division league ahead of next season. Gorilla FC and Rutsiro FC were promoted to the top flight league last season and neither of the two is likely to go back to the second division this season as their current performance guarantees them a place in the national football league. As it stands, Muhanga and Mukura are in the relegation zone and risk going to the second division should the results continue to go against their way.
