Kigali Arena has started a campaign to host weddings for couples that will win their social media challenge dubbed ‘month-long Instagram promotion’. This was announced on June 9, during a press release where organisers called on people who are planning to get married between this coming July till September this year to join, that there is a chance to hold their wedding festivities at the iconic Kigali arena for free for those who will going to win the challenge. Sunny Ntayombya, Managing Director of Affinity Media Group in charge of communications at Kigali Arena, told The New Times that acceptable candidates are only Rwandans living in the country or in the diaspora who wish to have their wedding in Rwanda. “We do not have a specific number that we are looking for as long as the candidates participate in the social media campaign within the communicated period,” he said, adding that the winners will be picked randomly before Kigali Arena offers the venue to them. The challenge started on June 9, and will end July 8, with terms and conditions for the competitors. Requirement for participants According to Kigali Arena’s twitter handle, those willing to participate in the social media campaign are required to follow Kigali arena on Instagram (@kigaliarenarw). Using the hashtag #WedAtKigaliArena, they will then post a photo of them and their partner and share abit about themselves, and tag @kigaliarenarw. Explaining the reason why Kigali Arena was chosen to host thefestivities, Kyle Schofield, the director of QA Venue Solutions, the firm that manages Kigali Arena, during the launch of campaign on June 9, said; “The Kigali Arena has lots of amazing spaces for various events and hosting weddings is one of them,” he said. “The campaign,” Schofield added, “forms part of our efforts in showcasing Kigali Arena’s ability to host events while adhering to all health and safety measures ensuring that the winning couple enjoy their day in a memorable manner.” Commenting on their expectations Schofield said: “We look forward to all the photos and stories throughout the campaign and most importantly hosting the lucky winners at the iconic Kigali Arena.” This campaign comes after Kigali Arena hosted one of the biggest basketball championships in Africa, Basketball Africa League (BAL), in May.
