The Rwandan team that will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics was, on Thursday, July 28, welcomed by Khalid Ait Omar, the deputy mayor of Courbevoie, a French town where the team is camping ahead of traveling to Paris. The 2024 Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11 in France, with some competitions starting on 24 July. Rwanda will be represented by eight athletes including five women and three men across various disciplines including cycling, athletics, swimming, and fencing. From July 6 to 23, the athletes are participating in a pre-training camp in Courbevoie. ALSO READ: Meet athletes representing Rwanda at Paris 2024 Games The training sessions are being held at facilities including Grand Stade Jean-Pierre Rives for athletics and fencing, Piscine Olympique Municipale de Courbevoie for swimming, and Courbevoie city's circuits for cycling. Speaking about the team's camp in Courbevoie, Eric Manizabayo, a team Rwanda cyclist, said the athletes are receiving the best support. We are confident this preparation will enable us to perform at our highest level during the Olympics, he noted. Despite Rwanda's consistent participation in the Olympic Games since 1984, a medal of any kind has remained elusive for the country’s athletes.
