Alyn Sano’s eyes are only set on becoming the first Rwandan artiste to win The Voice Afrique Francophone music contest and has called on Rwandans to show their support by voting for her so she can progress to the grand finale. Sano has been rehearsing alongside other 11 contestants throughout this past week, for tonight’s semi-final performances in Abidjan, Ivory Coast during which the audience will decide, through voting, who progresses to the grand finale slated for May 1. The contest resumes today April 23, after a year-long hiatus due to the Covid-19 crisis that prompted organisers to shift the music contest to Abidjan, Ivory Coast following a travel ban imposed on initial host nation, South Africa due to the new Coronavirus variant. The singer, speaking earlier to The New Times, expressed confidence in winning the music contest but cautioned that her chances will depend on how many votes she will gather from her music supporters, hence calling on Rwandans and all her music supporters, in general, to join the good cause and vote for her. Alyn Sano is the only Rwandan among the 12 finalists who are vying for an accolade of this year’s The Voice Afrique following a great performance during the competition’s battles held in January last year. At the very beginning, the singer was among the six Rwandan artistes who represented the country in the competition. The winner of The Voice Afrique will receive a cash prize (Grand Prix), as well as the release of a debut single and music video. Every season, four coaches train singers from across the continent and occasionally perform with them. The competitors are selected in auditions where the coaches listen to the auditioning contestant without watching them. The competition comprises of five editions including, the blinds, battles, knock-outs, semi-finals and the finale. How to vote To vote for her, type V1 and send to +2250768070607. Voting starts when the semi-finals show begins at 9.00 pm GMT (11.00 pm Kigali Time) and closes when the show ends at 11.00 pm GMT (1.00 AM Kigali time). The four best performing contestants will go through to the final slated on May 1.
