SOUTHERN PROVINCE MUHANGA — Clarisse Akimana, a genocide survivor in Kigarama cell, Cyeza sector has expressed gratitude to the government of Rwanda for the gift of a new house. Akimana made the remarks, on Saturday March 28, after being handed over the keys to her new house. Prior to the gift she had spend years leaving with others. The recipient’s new home was constructed by residents of Rwinkuba village under the government support program for vulnerable residents whose main thrust is to assist such groups acquire shelter countrywide. To show appreciation Akimana revealed her intentions of being a guardian mother to one vulnerable child in the community. She requested the community to lend her further support to enable her to make a fresh start. Residents responded by contributing Rwf.35,000 to enable her buy essentials for her new home. During the hand over district and sector officials used the opportunity to condemn local leaders and residents who have been involved in embezzling funds meant for such causes. “Funds meant for such functions have been misused by either the beneficiaries or the local leaders. The culprits should be brought to justice and punished to serve as a deterrent to others” Innocent Ryumugabe, the sector executive secretary said. Ends
