Make the right choices and you won’t regret

Recently, I learned that not all the things we do come from the bottom of our hearts or our choice. My friend does not agree with me so I am forced to write about this. It is a question, “what would you do?” We’ll look at few of the common examples. Your partner loves you much as you do but you are miles apart not because you choose to be apart but because of stuff like school, job…. You do not get on well with your teacher or boss but you have to attend his lesson everyday. You are separated from your baby because you have to be in school. You eat the food you hate so much, you have friends with whom you do not enjoy their company….and many more. The music group ‘City High’ has one of their songs that says, “what would you do if your son was at home crying all alone with no food to eat….and the only way is to sleep with a man….” Somehow you may ask yourself if there are no other ways through which a person in such a situation can use to support her child. That is why I think that the biggest percentage of the people who indulge in stuff like prostitution, drugs, stealing, abortions, and other bad things, do not do them because they choose to. Let’s take this example. Somebody stole my phone a few months a go but fortunately, she was caught. When asked why she did it, she said she wanted to sell it so that she could buy necessities. Naturally if this person had had the things that she needed, am sure she would not have stolen my phone. Just recently, a young lady was accused of aborting. She defended herself saying that she did not want to see her child suffering, as she had no finance to support it in anything. You may ask yourself why she did not avoid the pregnancy in the first place. She told me her story and here it goes. One day last year, at her school [she was in form five], she found herself with no single coin in her pocket. A friend, a man, called to meet her in town and she felt this was the chance to get some money. She was wrong because the man did not show up at the place they had planned to meet. At 10pm, she started to get worried because she could not go back to school or else risk being chased. She could not go home either because she had no reason to explain her coming at that time of the night. What scared her most was the drink she had had expecting the man to pay. At around 11pm, she started thinking of possibilities, when by chance, a man came to her table and asked to take her home for the night. She accepted wholeheartedly. They spent the night together and that was the last time she saw him. When she discovered the pregnancy, the things that came to her mind were to protect her long term relationship, to keep a good image in front of her too strict parents, to protect her baby from suffering, …. To her, the only solution was to abort. And she did. As you can see, what she did was not what she would have done if for example, she had been made pregnant by her long term boyfriend, if her parents were not tough, if she could keep in school, if it was possible to support her child,…. On the other hand, do you think that she will live without the guilt that she killed an innocent child? I doubt. Ladies, why can’t you protect yourself in the first place before you think of aborting? Ask God to guide you in everything. Pray whenever you are going to do anything. Pray every time and God will hear you. In the car, in class, in the bath, on your knees,….Make prayer your best friend. I have tried it and it has helped me. Pray for everything. Yes, everything. Even before you have sex and you will not regret. You will not find yourself in a dilemma. God will be with you, you won’t ask yourself, “What will I do?” Just pray and relax. fimwel@outgun.com
