Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball club has completed the signing of Rwandan international Pascal Niyonkuru from APR. Popularly known as “Kaceka,” the 29-year-old is one of the best shooting guards in the country and has had several call-ups to the national team in several competitions, including the recent Afrobasket qualifiers window 2 in Monastir, Tunisia. He joins REG on a two-year deal. In an exclusive interview with Times Sport, Niyonkuru said he was excited to join REG and looks forward to the new challenge. He started his senior career with APR in 2013 and featured for them for three years before crossing to Espoir in 2015. While at Espoir, Niyonkuru was part of the team that won the 2017 Genocide Memorial Tournament after stunning Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the final. He also helped them to finish third in the national league three times. Niyonkuru was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the National Heroes Day tournament in 2017.
