The Ministry of Sports will next week open a call for applications for the now-vacant top job to lead the national team Amavubi, Weekend Sport can confirm. The development comes after tactician Vincent Mashami’s contract as Amavubi head coach expired on Thursday, February 11, a few days after guiding Rwanda to quarter-finals of the rescheduled 2020 African Nations Championships (CHAN) tournament in Cameroon. Morocco retained the title following a 2-0 victory over Mali at the final. Without revealing the exact date, Guy Rurangayire, the Ministry’s Director of Sports, told this publication that the vacancy will be open next week. Rurangayire said that, while assessing the applications of candidates, experience in international competitions is one of the criteria that will be considered, and “obviously what they will be promising to deliver during the course of their work contract”. “We cannot give much detail about the process until the call for applications is released next week,” he further added. CAF license A will be the minimum qualification for eligibility to vie for the position.
