Rwanda registered 257 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 infections, and 5 new deaths related to the virus on Friday January 15, according to an update from the Ministry of Health. This is the highest number of new infections in five months. Fridays new cases were registered in various parts of the country, including the City of Kigali where 159 infections were rdetected, 16 in Gicumbi; 14 in Gisagara; 13 in Rwamagana; 13 in Huye; 10 in Karongi; 7 in Muhanga; 7 in Kirehe; 4 in Nyagatare; 3 in Musanze; 2 in Gatsibo; 2 in Ngoma; 2 in Rubavu; 1 in Ruhango; 1 in Rusizi; 1 in Nyamagabe; 1 in Burera; and 1 in Ngororero. The 5 new death cases reported on the same day mean that the country has lost up to 103 people from November 2020 to January 15, 2021. The ministry said all the fatalities recorded on Friday were from Kigali. The deceased were all men, of 98, 75, 84, 63, and 54 years of age. The total number of all confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country are 10,573. Of these, 7,028 have recovered, while 3,407 are active cases. The total number of Covid-19 related deaths related in the country is 138.
