Rwanda on Saturday, January 2, reported four new Covid-19 deaths, raising the tally of people who succumbed to the virus in the country to 98. All the four deceased were men. They include a 42-year-old, 55-year-old, 73-year-old, and 78-year-old. On the same day, of 2,345 sample tests taken in the last 24 hours, Rwanda reported 107 new Covid-19 cases. In total, the country has reported 8,567 Covid-19 confirmed cases, of whom 6,685 have already recovered. Since December last year, the country has been consistently experiencing a sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 fatalities and infections. Of the new cases, 85 were confirmed in Kigali, 14 in Gicumbi district, three in Huye district and two in Rubavu district. Meanwhile, Ruhango, Nyanza and Kirehe districts confirmed and single Covid-19 cases each. Overall, Rwanda has conducted 735,467 sample tests of Covid-19.
