On the night of December 31, Rwandans couldn’t wait to bid farewell to 2020, a year that will be remembered for disrupting all sectors. It was, for instance, a year that marked the end of Dream Boys’ era following TMC’s departure to the United States back in February to continue his studies and leave his long-term brother in music, Platini Nemeye with no choice but to kick-off a solo career. Since then, all eyes have been on the journalism graduate to see if he will carry on on his own. But he proved that, with or without Dream Boys, he was still capable. He proved this on Thursday, December 31, during his performance at the just-concluded ‘My Talent’ live concerts alongside fast-rising singer Nel Ngabo. A performance from the duo, who are both signed under Kina Music management, was the only ‘My Talent’ concert during which two artistes shared a stage since they started in November. To wind up 2020 in style, Nel Ngabo, impressed with his performance that entertained his audience at home. He performed many of the songs that make up his debut album ‘Ingabo’ that he launched during the virtual concert held on July 4, to pay tribute to the Rwandan army that liberated the country. From ‘Why’, ‘Byakoroha’ and ‘Nzahinduka’ to ‘Ndagukunda’ ‘Agacupa’ and ‘Zoli’, the singer put up an ecstatic performance to the excitement of thousands who were following the concert on their screens. He also paid tribute to the late DJ Miller when he performed their collaboration ‘Boss’. Nel Ngabo gave an impressive performance at My Talent show. His departure from the stage felt like the show was just beginning for some when Platini showed up, accompanied by his band of dancers. From his music choice and dance to fashion, the singer showed out his capability when he performed his singles like Veronika and Atansiyo as well as some collaborations like ‘Fata Amano’ which features Canada-based singer and former music rival Safi Madiba, ‘Ntabirenze’ ft Knowless Butera and ‘Isano’ that he sang with TMC as Dream Boys. Platini and Nel Ngabo’s show was one of eleven shows which were organised by East African Promoters under ‘My Talent’ concept to give young and upcoming artists a chance to showcase their talent to a bigger audience live on Rwanda Television (RTV).
