Several Rwandan celebrities ranging from football and basketball players, comedians, actors, journalists, and artistes are pooling efforts and expertise to promote cultural tourism. Through their newly released single “One song, one nation”, former ambassador and singer Joe Habineza, the Amavubi’s captain Haruna Niyonzima, and goal keeper Eric Ndayishimiye Bakame, comedian Mugisha Clapton, journalists Jean Luc Imfurayiwacu and Jeanne d’Arc Cyuzuzo and others detail on the beauty of the land of a thousand hills. Fred Iyakaremye, the brain behind the initiative, said that it is part of their contribution to make Rwanda known everywhere for its beautiful landscapes that make it one of the most attractive parts in Africa and the world. “If we know England for its football, and China for its trade, why can’t we make sure Rwanda gets known for its amazing landscapes and beautiful adventures as well as its culture?”, he wondered. The Tourism and hospitality graduate says that he chose to develop the sector through music because it is the only aspect that undergoes the one-size fits all model. “Music has no border. It does not require a passport for it to travel to certain countries and besides, we all enjoy music. So, it is a good technique to use it to reach the masses”, he says. After writing the song, Iyakaremye, a content creator who was the host of RBA’s live sounds show, travelled to Kamonyi district, Kagina sector and partnered with Indatwa n’Abarerwa cultural troupe to produce the song. Habineza, in the song, wondered which other country looks like Rwanda, citing that Rwandans are of the same origin and one motherland. Other stars who feature in the song are Singer Peace Jolis and Patriots basketball club’s Gilbert Nijimbere.
