A number of renowned gospel stars are honouring deceased Rwandan pastor, philanthropist and researcher, Jean Rwihaniza Gapusi, through a song, Ndineza, that was released recently. The artistes include Aime Uwimana, Gaby Kamanzi, Patient Bizimana, Serugo Ben, Healing Worship Team’s Diane Nyirashimwe and Janvier Muhoza who is the brain behind the initiative. Gapusi who passed on four years ago, was an active member of ADEPR church, a biodiversity researcher and a graduate of the Sweden-based Uppsala University. He worked in different Rwandan research organisations like Rwanda Agricultural Board (RAB) and The National Agricultural Research Institute (ISAR) among others. Speaking to The New Times, Janvier Muhoza, said that they chose to release the song “Ndineza” to honor Gapusi, whose philanthropic work has spurred many. “I really admired him, he was my godfather, and he took care of my family after our father’s death, so I will always remember and honor him not because of what he did for me, but because of his kindness and helping the poor,” he noted. The hymn song Ndineza was Gapusi’s favorite song and was sung during his last moments before he succumbed to cancer. The hymn was therefore an inspiration for the song. The song details how believers should rest in Christ because he took all their sins away. The song was produced by Nicholas and shot by producer Doux.
