A superb 69th minute finish from Abdelsalam Alaquob was all Al Nasr needed to break the resilience of AS Kigali in the second leg of the final preliminary round game of the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup. AS Kigali put up a spirited fight right from the start of the game, on Sunday, October 16. But they dropped their guard through dreadful defending and allowed the Libyans to score the only goal of the game in the second half. Both sides lifted up their game on Sunday and showed sheer brilliance as compared to the first leg which ended goalless in Huye. AS Kigali seized the midfield with the likes of Rashid Kalisa dictating the pace of the game as the Libyans could not make headway. The attackers of the City of Kigali sponsored club, especially Hussein Shabani, once again let them down as they failed to shine in the epic encounter. AS Kigali must now fully switch their attention to the domestic league, seeking to challenge APR FC for the title.
