The handicap 03 golfer’s scintillating run centered on birdies on holes 3 and 15 as he finished six shots clear of his nearest challenger Andrew Nkwandi, who carded 75net. Saturday’s win was also a clear indication that the golfer loves winning MTN sponsored events since he also won last year’s MTN-Ericsson Golf Open. In the semi-professional category, scratch player Ernest Ndayisenga beat Francois Habimana on count back to claim the category’s gong. Both players had tied on 75net but the former edged out his compatriot after stroking 14 over the last three holes, one less than Habimana. Else where, Gavin Cooper shot 79net to win the handicap (10-18) category, while Innocent Rutamu beat Gurmit Santokh on count back to claim the handicap (19-28) category. The pair had tied on 74net. MTN is sponsoring this year’s Monthly mug competition after Bralirwa’s decision not to renew their Mutzig monthly mug. Ends
