CONSULTATION ON MEDIA LAW OF GREAT IMPORTANCE
On Friday March 20, the Minister of Information, Louise Mushikiwabo held discussions with representatives of the media and other stakeholders in the industry. The importance of involving all stakeholders in discussing and “cleaning up” the media law that was recently passed by parliament is relevant. Many journalists have expressed reservations about some sections in the proposed law. This is understandable since they are well positioned to know how they go about their business. The media practitioners should contribute positively to the debate so that by the time President Paul Kagame signs the law, there will be a win- win situation for all.
