Do you need to have a Bank of Kigali account to invest in Aguka Trust Fund? How can one in the diaspora invest in the fund? These are some of the key concerns and questions that have emerged in regard to the Aguka Trust Fund which launched on 13th October. BK Capital, the investment arm of BK Group on October 13th launched Aguka Unit Trust Fund which will invest and manage funds within a diversified portfolio on behalf of investors and later distribute the profits regularly. The Fund offering opened on 13th October 2020 until 13th November 2020 where interested investors can ‘purchase’ units at Rwf 100 per unit. For Diaspora, EAC citizens For someone who is not in Rwanda either a Diaspora or EAC citizen, the process is the same, the investor will have to open an account with the Aguka Unit Trust fund by filling a form, credit the account of Aguka, and share the payment slip with BK Capital, through the email bkcapital@bk.rw. A ticket for the purchase, with the number of units purchased and the amount invested, will be shared with the investor. Is there a digital way to sign up or transfer? So far, the only digital way you can use to sign up or transfer is through email. How do I monitor my investments, how will I know the value of my investment? After the offer period, a statement will be shared on a regular basis with investors, where they will be able to see how their holdings are growing in the Fund. How will the value of my investment be calculated in, for example 3 months? The value of your investment will be updated on a daily basis. What guarantees do I have that my investment is safe? Aguka Unit Trust Fund, licensed by the Capital Market Authority fund, will be investing mostly in the Government of Rwanda T bonds and T bills. Government bonds are also called risk-free investment as they are backed by the Government. The Aguka Unit Trust Fund will also be subject to an audit every year. Can I use my trust fund investment as collateral for a loan? Yes, you can, for loans we can pledge it as collateral. Can I open different trust funds for my children at Aguka? Yes, you can.
