The National Electoral Commission has announced that the final voter list for the presidential and parliamentary elections in July will be released on Saturday, June 29. More than 9.5 million Rwandans registered to vote and about 2 million of them are first-time voters, with 62,000 registered from diaspora. With a new system called Rwanda Election Management Information System, NEC made it easy for registered voters to verify their registration details, update their identification, or transfer from one polling station to another using their personal telephones or laptops. Charles Munyaneza, the NEC Executive Secretary, told The New Times that once the final voter list is released, no further changes will be allowed. Access to the system for making any alterations to the voting list will be closed.
