Fred Rudasingwa is my name and my home is in Mutara. During my free time, I enjoy looking after my parent’s cows.I do not see this as child labor because I only look after six cows. Everyday when I come back from school, I drink and eat before I take the cows for grazing. When I take the cows to graze, I do not find children who are 12 years old like me. Most of them are not allowed to look after cows. Other children work at home. They cook, fetch water and carry the young ones. For me I chose to look after the cows because I love them. While grazing, I also face difficulties during the dry season. At this time the pond water andgrass dries up. This makes me and other herdsmen to walk long distances looking for both water and grass. It is always good to help parents with work as long as our bones don’t break. Children should also not forget to read their books because education is important. Ends
