Rwanda on Friday, July 10, confirmed 42 new Covid-19 cases, of which 17 were identified from a detention center in Nyabihu. The rest of the cases included 16 returnees and tests of high risk groups in Kigali, five new cases in Rusizi district and four from Nyamagabe. According to the Ministry of Health, the new figures brought the tally of confirmed cases to 1,252, of which 635 had already recovered, including twelve in the last twenty-four hours. But, three people have succumbed to the virus so far. The latest results were drawn from 3,898 sample tests conducted in the last twenty-four hours whereas 176,260 sample tests have been taken since the pandemic’s outbreak in Mid-March. The development comes after 72 cases were confirmed in a detention center in Ngoma and 49 in a transit center in Kigali. However, Rwanda’s health Minister, Dr Daniel Ngamije said on Wednesday, July 8, that all people are going to be tested before being put in detention centers to minimize the risk of Coronavirus transmission.
