President Paul Kagame met with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal, in Paris, France, on Thursday, June 20, and had a cordial exchange following up on the former’s visit to Dakar last month, according to the President's Office. Kagame arrived in Paris on Thursday to attend the Global Forum for Vaccine Sovereignty and Innovation, co-hosted by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in partnership with France and the African Union (AU). It also emerged that President Faye was due to visit Rwanda, although no more details were offered. The two leaders were also seen together attending a Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifier game between Senegal’s AS Douanes and Rwanda’s APR. This was Kagame's first visit to Senegal since Faye was elected as the country's leader. The 44-year-old won the presidency on his Pastef party ticket in March.
