Rayon Sports Women's Football Club (WFC) have their eyes set on signing more foreign players as they aim to challenge for the 2024/25 CAF Women's Champions League. The Rwandan champions have recently parted ways with seven players whose contracts have expired and are looking to fill the vacant places with foreign but productive signings who can steer the team to the ‘table d’honneur’ of African elite clubs. Release players include goalkeepers Claudine Itangishaka and Jeanne Niyonsaba, defender Sifa Uwanyirigira, and midfielders Diane Uwamaria, Rosine Uwiringiyimana, Judith Ochitieno, and Fatuma Miky Kankindi. Kana emphasized that the club's ambition is to build a formidable team capable of excelling both in domestic and continental football competitions. We’re looking to build a strong team that can not only compete locally but also on the continent,” she said. “Soon, we will announce some new entries, but what is for sure is that you can expect new faces. Rayon Sports WFC enjoyed a successful season during which they won a double including the league title and the Peace Cup. Their victories have earned them the opportunity to represent Rwanda in the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Ethiopia in August 2024.
