Rwanda’s coronavirus recoveries tally has reached 413 after 15 new patients were discharged from Covid-19 treatment centres on Saturday, June 27. According to the daily Covid-19 update by the Ministry of Health, 20 new cases were recorded in the last twenty-four hours, bringing the number of active cases to 463. Among the new cases, 15 were identified in Rusizi, three in Rubavu and two from Kigali. The latest results were drawn from 4,702 sample tests. Since the pandemic’s outbreak in mid-March, Rwanda has conducted 134,749 tests nationwide. From these tests, 878 cases have been confirmed as positive of which 413 have recovered and two people have succumbed to the virus. The continued cases identified in Kigali led the Ministry of Local Government to impose a total lockdown in six neighbourhoods in the capital starting on Thursday. On the global scale, the coronavirus cases have surpassed 10 million, of which 5.4 million have recovered and almost half a million have succumbed to it.
