Ferwafa have confirmed that Ivosajh Scheich is not a contender for the post of Amavubi Stars’ head coach. According to the federation’s CEO Jules Kalisa, the Slovenian was overlooked after failing to meet the post’s minimum requirement. “Scheich is an experienced coach but that experience is limited to club level. In his profile, he has not dealt with a national team and yet one of Ferwafa’s minimum requirements for the job is vast experience with a national side,” Kalisa disclosed. It is a nasty blow for the Scheich who has in the past been turned down by Sierra Leone, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia, Guam, Tanzania and worst of all his home country Slovenia. With the application deadline set for mid-next week, over 20 coaches from Africa and Europe have already expressed their interest and Ferwafa believes that it will come up with a perfect man for the job before the end of October. The search comes days after Michael Nees was shown the exit after Amavubi Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2008 African Nations Cup that will be stage in Ghana. The German who signed a one-year renewable contract with Ferwafa could only help Rwanda to a third spot Group finish in the 2008 CAN qualifiers’ Campaign. It is the second consecutive time that Rwanda has failed to qualify for CAN since 2004 when she broke the qualification jinx. Ends
