Editor, It’s with horror that I heard on the news that gun-wielding youths had killed people in Germany and the United States. It’s amazing, in this day and age, that a fully civilised nation should have a situation where its citizens are allowed to walk around with firearms. While it might have made sense to have armed populace in the 1800’s, it doesn’t make any sense to have them armed any more because of the fact that each country has a standing army. Some pro-gun advocates pretend that they carry guns for hunting. Come one they must realise that keeping a hunting rifle isn’t the same as keeping a sub-machine gun. I think its time that the anti-gun lobby won the battle because if this isn’t so, we’ll have more and more Columbine’s. Kacyiru
