WESTERN PROVINCE NYAMASHEKE — The construction of 696 houses for vulnerable genocide survivors in the Nyamasheke district has been completed. This was revealed on Tuesday by Catherine Gatete, the district Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs during an interview with The New Times. She said that they want to end the problem of lack of shelter for genocide survivors before the commencement of this year’s genocide commemoration week in April. “The district has sorted out nearly all problems concerning genocide survivors’ shelter. We no longer want to hear such similar problems in our district in the next coming months,” Gatete said. According to Gatete, some of houses were constructed during community work, while others were built by the government and other well-wishers. He said they are planning to construct houses for the remaining other vulnerable groups in the district before the end of this year. Ends
