The new song “Sabrina” by Mike Kayihura featuring Kivumbi King is taking social media bystorm and proving indeed that the two artistes are not given the recognition they deserve. Just a few hours after it was posted on YouTube, fans took to social media to share the song with their followers and appreciate the talent. Produced by Danny Beats, the afro-soul song features a character named Sabrina in a cosy room with her head leaning on the shoulder of her lover, enjoying the good things of life, while active like a diva. Kayihura says “Sabrina” was nothing planned. Although the soul singer denied the existence of the “Sabrina” in his real life, the song blows a sensation of a déjà vécu, having be drawn from some experience in the past. “There is nobody in particular. My writing process involves the mood and feelings at the moment, and at that moment the name “Sabrina” came to my mind,” the 27-year-old told The New Times. Kayihura revealed that recording the song happened randomly as the duo were in the studio working on other projects. “I wrote this song two years ago then, while I was working with Danny Beats on a project so I played the melody and he made a beat out of the composition. It wasn’t on the agenda,” “Kivumbi was there at the time and had just finished working on his projects and I asked him to jump in on a verse and the outcome was phenomenal,” Kayihura said. There is an album and an EP in the pipeline The “Kante” hitmaker revealed that there are other projects he is working on for his fans that will be released very soon. “I’m currently working on my album whose title I would love to keep a secret for now for the fans and this album is something different from what the fans were used to-piano keys only type of songs-because I’m trying to get into different sounds, different genres,” said Kayihura adding that he is experimenting more with the afro-soul genre by producing a number of songs. “I am also getting into production a lot more these days and I am playing a big role in how it is going to sound like when it comes out,” he said, adding that it is something he is really excited about. On top of that, the songwriter mentioned that there is a new ballad to be released soon and an Extended Play record (EP) which he is working on with Danny Beats, dubbed “630” like one of his songs. The talented pianist started singing at the age of 13 and last year he released an EP titled “Barely mixed” with ten songs which was “mellow only played with the piano” and recorded live at Bougainvilla.
