Rwanda on Monday, reported no new case of COVID-19 out of the 1,299 tests that had been carried out in 24 hours. According to a status update from the ministry, four patients were discharged during the same period, after undergoing full recovery, bringing the cumulative number of those that have recovered to 80. The majority are asymptomatic and no patient is under critical conditions, the daily report by the ministry released Monday reads in part. The ministry called on Rwandans to observe all measures put in place to increase vigilance against the virus. Since the outbreak of this pandemic in the country, the Government has employed several directives to contain it. They range from a country lockdown set to run up to April 30th, suspension of passenger air travel and temporary halting of large gatherings including church services and schools. The most recent measure that went into force on Monday April 20, the mandatory use of face masks in public and in multi-family compounds. To shore up the supply of masks, twenty-two local firms were at the weekend authorized to produce personal protective equipment. Globally, coronavirus cases have risen to more than 2,466,305 while the death toll now stands at over 169,338 and 644,589 recovered cases.
