The last two weeks have been good for Rwanda’s music industry as artistes kept releasing back to back hits, featuring big artistes on the continent. In no particular order, Weekender highlights some of the best new songs to add to your weekend playlist. ‘DJ’ - Nel Ngabo After a successful Canada tour, fast-rising singer Nel Ngabo has released ‘DJ’ which is one of the tracks on his second album. The song came as a surprise release and is making rounds in pubs and clubs around Kigali. Produced by Clement and directed by Gad, the song is among Nel Ngabo’s most loved songs after ‘Joli’. It has secured close to 200,000 streams on different platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and many others. ‘My Boo’ – Afrique Afrique, a young music star in Kigali, has released another banger which he produced during his last visit to Kampala, Uganda. ‘My Boo’ follows a number of hits like ‘Rompe’, ‘Robine’ and ‘Agatunda’ which made him a household name in the country. The song that is now a hit in Kigali and Kampala was produced by Afrique’s long-time collaborator, Major, in afro-zouk genre. It has over 100,000 YouTube views in its first week. ‘Terimometa’ - DJ Phil Peter ft. Kenny Sol Renowned showbiz journalist who is also a disc jockey has made a comeback to the music scene with a banger that features fast-rising artiste, Kenny Sol. Produced by Element in afro-beat, ‘Terimometa’ is among the few songs topping local charts and taking over in clubs in Kigali. It has generated close to 500,000 streams on different platforms. ‘Exchange’ - Bwiza Since the release of ‘Ready’, a song that made Bwiza rise to stardom, the young lady who is among few females making music in Rwanda, has never stopped releasing bangers. This time, with the help of Uganda’s finest producers Real Beat and Ronnie on Dis, Bwiza made ‘Exchange’, a song making rounds on local airwaves and TV. The single has over 300,000 views on YouTube within less than a month. ‘Deep’ - FIK Famaica ft. Bruce Melodie Rwanda’s sensational afro-singer, Bruce Melodie, has appeared on FIK Famaica’s new album dubbed ‘King Kong’. The ‘Katerina’ hit-maker is on the five-track album and it was the duo’s second collabo after ‘Bon Appetit’ which came out in 2019. ‘Deep’ is now one of the most popular songs off of FIK Famaica’s album.
