Acclaimed rapper Riderman, is definitely one of few rappers who have managed to stay active in their music. Born Emery Gatsinzi, Riderman is a multi-award winning hip hop artist and a father of three children, a boy and twin daughters. He is the founder of Ibisumizi Arts Center located in Gikondo, Kigali. The 35-year-old released his first record song, Turi Muri Party” in 2007, after two years singing UTP Soldiers, one of Kigali’s leading hip hop crews of their generation. Riderman’s turning point came later in the same year, after deciding to pursue a solo career. He launched his debut album Rutenderi” in 2008, and won the best hip-hop artist” award during the inaugural edition of ‘Salax Awards’. His latest EP ‘Icyumba Cy’Amategeko,’ which also features Bulldog, is making waves due to the rich rap talent that the two rappers possess. But how does the rapper spend his free weekend? The New Times had a chat with him and this is what he had to say. During the weekend I usually sleep in and wake up around 9:00am. Most of the time I have performances at different events, so I leave the house at 3pm for the shows. When I don’t have a gig, I spend a day with my family, playing with my kids and help them with their homework if they have any. I also take some time for workouts after which I watch a movie before reading few pages of a book. When I don’t have any performance, I either spend a night at Ibisumizi studio recording or meet some of my fans who come to visit our studio in Gikondo. However, my weekend schedule is not always the same, it may change depending on what is happening. Sometimes I visit friends and family or attend a wedding or sometimes go to church or at a farm.
