Editor, I would like to emphasize the importance of investing in modern fishing, if we are to improve the industry in Rwanda. The methods most of our fishers are using today cannot take us far enough. There is therefore need to invest, both in giving the fishers skills enough to do the work and capital to buy relevant fishing nets. We have had a situation where some nets trapped very young fish. The lakes we also have too do not have sufficient fish, to supply our people with enough proteins, which is why I see it as imperative to plant other fish types in them. We can for instance plant the big Nile Perch in one of our Lakes, if specialists find it possible to boost our production. Kayonza
