APR trio leave for trials

APR’s trio of Haruna Niyonzima, Elias Uzamukunda and Jean Baptista Mugiraneza who left for professional trials in France are expected to return back to the country on March 12 in time for the club’s continental engagement against Egypt’s Haras El Hodoud. The trio left on Tuesday aboard SN Brussels for trials in France Ligue 1 relegation battling club Le Havre. According to APR’s under fire Secretary General, Aime Kayinamura, the trio will have the trials for one week before returning back to the club to participate in the club’s Confederation Cup home tie against Haras El Hodoud due on March 14 in Kigali. “They are going for a 7-day trial stint at Le Havre. They will be back after a week to continue with their club commitments,” “They are equipped and we believe they will pass the trials. We ruled out Nantes and preferred them going to Le Havre because they can win the trials and even be signed if all goes according to plan,” Kayinamura said. The U-20 skipper Niyonzima, Mugiraneza and Uzamukunda were outstanding in the African Youth Championship though their services didn’t earn Rwanda a place in semi-finals which would have enabled Rwanda to qualify for her maiden Fifa World Youth Championship. Rwanda finished third in Group A with four points after winning 2-1 against Mal, played a one-all draw against Cameroon and lost 2-0 to Ghana. The trio has also been called to the Amavubi team which has starts preparation for the third round of the 2010 World/Africa Nations’ Cup qualifiers this week. Le Havre is bottom of the France Ligue 1 standings with 15 points in 26 matches played and don’t have any doubts of escaping the relegation zone. Ends
