WESTERN PROVINCE RUSIZI — A group of 30 drivers in Rusizi district have been trained on environmental protection. The two-day workshop that took place at La Petit Colline in Kamembe was organised by the Nyungwe Chimps Travel Agency (N.C.T.A), a private Transport company based in Rusizi. The trainees included truck, coaster, taxis and special hire drivers drawn from all sector units of the district. Vincent Nahayo, the Manager of NCTA, called upon the trainees to always advise the travellers to avoid throwing polythene materials along the roads, as they pose a threat to the environment. An official from the Nyungwe National Park, Rogers Ngamage, who was among the trainers, warned the drivers against over speeding while in Nyungwe in order to avoid knocking Wild animals and causing accidents. At the function, Françoise Nirere, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, hailed NCTA for organising the workshop and called upon the participants to lead the conservation campaign in their respective localities. One Mauridi Kagabo who spoke on behalf of the trainees said, “I thank NCTA for organising such a seminar for us. We have achieved a lot regarding how to protect the environment and we shall take the message to our colleagues who did not attend this workshop and other people we meet everyday’. Ends
